The Cabrio Greenhouse from Hedafor, a group company associated with Deforche Construction Group, was used to create a super nursery in the Royal Parks, London. Services provided by Hedafor included concept design, research, installation, maintenance, production, and technology implementation.
Covering the size of a football pitch, the new greenhouse replaces the previous 1960s nursery that had reached the end of its life and was beyond repair. The complete project includes the glasshouse, environment control systems, LED lighting, rainwater recovery systems, and over 4,000 square meters of ebb/flood benching.
The state-of-the-art nursery is the first major glasshouse production facility in the UK to incorporate technology that allows the roof to open and close depending on the weather. The roof helps the acclimatization of young plants, eliminating the need to move them outside for hardening – saving on labor and maximizing space.
The glasshouse is split into 13 computer-controlled zones, adapting the climate according to the needs of the plants.
