For Wilkhahn Occo range, designers Markus Jehs and Jürgen Laub have come up with a chair and table range that is perfectly coordinated with one another. Occo combines enormous versatility and a vast choice of design options with a clear and immediately identifiable design language. The special shape of the recesses in the back and sides allows chairs to be stacked (when a chrome-plated, four-leg metal frame is chosen) and superb seated comfort is also delivered at the same time. The seat itself is very rigid, but the back is exceptionally flexible due to its shape and the different thicknesses of the material.
The Occo chair and table range makes it possible to unite different atmospheres in meeting, canteen, and conference spaces through a clear and identifiable design. The Occo SC (Side Chair), differs from others in the collection in that it has no armrests and is slightly more slender in design than the others – but is still clearly one of the family nevertheless. The shell and its characteristic cutout section offer superior comfort and enable the adoption of different postures. The chair’s compact size means rooms can be used efficiently. Occo SC is available with the Occo color, frame, and upholstery options. As a result, the options available for the Occo “seat kit” have been doubled to 192.
The characteristic shape of the seat and backrest shell mirrors the letters that Occo owes its name to. Viewed from the front, the chair looks like an O and from the side, it resembles a C. Four frame types (four-leg chair in metal and solid wood, four-star base on glides, and five-star base on castors), three types of cushioning, and six shell colors (black, white, grey, blue-grey, grey-beige, orange-red) produce a total of 72 variants that respond to virtually all functional and design requirements.
Occo is ideal for furnishing any spaces destined to encourage people to interact with one another – from conference rooms to open-plan meeting areas to canteens as venues for working, eating or partying. The range is therefore ideal for interior designers and architects who want to convey attractive, customized design concepts and appeal with plenty of variety, but in a consistent and clear design language at the same time.
