Armchair - Grace | Freifrau

The designers of the Grace armchair consider good seating design to be a balance of functionality and comfort. A well-designed chair must have a certain flair whilst simultaneously engaging and delighting all the senses.

Freifrau chairs are all designed for comfort and are especially soft. Grace upholds the comfort level with a new, clearer form than other pieces in the collection. The structure is both simple and challenging, taking two years to develop.

The start point for the design is a chair that looked like a covering had been laid over a frame. This initial idea lacked the characteristic Freifrau levels of comfort and so research onto the use of leather as a material began as a way to adapt the design. Although the design took a lot of time, the final chair is worth it both in appearance and comfort.
