Designed by architects Iso Huonder Architektur Chur, this communal building was designed as part of modernizing and expanding a campsite in Trun, Switzerland. The new building has a strong and simple silhouette that serves as a beacon of warmth and protection in the protected meadow landscape. The verandah at the front of the building creates a sheltered meeting space and a place to dwell and chat.
The restaurant within is characterized by three-part trusses that open as they ascend. They react equally to tensile and compressive forces and form a rigid transition from the wall to the roof. The building was prefabricated using locally sourced timber.
The interior furnishings are simple and modern in neutral tones to complement the timber interior. Three products by the Swiss furniture manufacturer Horgenglarus have been used; the rq light t-2001 table, the micro bar stool 11-580, and the classic 1-380 chair. These timeless pieces continue the refined elegance of the building structure into the interior furnishings.
