Call for Proposals for Mobility & City

Transportation infrastructure like flyovers, elevated expressways, bridges, highways are built to perform a certain role in a city. But in the post construction phase, as they are put into an already existing system of urban networks, the under-infrastructure space and infra elements continue to evolve into interesting usages by common people.
These public spaces beneath active elevated road and rail beds remain at best largely underused, and at worst dark and dusty corridors of neglect. The reality of the modern infrastructural landscape is as much geopolitical as it is technical. Transportation infrastructure continues being utilized as an urban element, beyond their intended function in many cases.

The international symposium is a dialogue between policymakers, architects, academicians , researchers, and common people (users) where they come together and discuss the policies about transport infrastructure, its neo urban impact, their perspective while also showcasing their infra projects.

Attend Year's Biggest International Symposium on

Mobility & City | 11 November 2022 | 14:00 - 18:00 (IST) | 08:30 - 12:30 (BST)

and enter for the Design Challenge On Rejuvenation Of Unused Under-Bridge Spaces Along/On Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram, Haryana, India

As the urbanization and gentrification is increasing in the Milennial city of Gurugram, Haryana (India), the issue of decreasing in forest cover, lack of social interaction, urban heat island effect, urban flooding and lack of socio-cultural interaction is rising, which has further divided the city into more irreversible and unsustainable area.

On the other hand Dwarka Expressway is being constructed and developed as an iconic project to reduce and ease the commute between the two major areas of New Delhi and Gurugram and on the other hand the unused under-under bridge spaces creates an opportunity for the architects, designers & planners to design it into more sustainable way and resolve the issues of the city.

The Dwarka expressway somewhere is merging with junctions and at the junctions elevating above the ground creating a wavy pattern from one destination to other destination.

Hence, a team doesn't need to stick to a place or exact shape, but considering the above mentioned issues and the surroundings, design the small left-over pocket under the bridges (imagine a site as per your convenience) or at least a stretch of 250 Meters under-bridge which shows how the spaces can become the part of the surroundings and promote the global sustainable goals.
