The Eoulmadang-ro was the Danginri Line railroad that transported cargoes and people to the Danginri thermal power plant until 1970s. After the line was closed, it was transformed into the pedestrian-friendly street, public parking lots, and etc. Most cultural events of Front of Hongik University is being held near the Eoulmadang-ro, but there are insufficient facilities supporting the events. The breakaway of artists due to the increased rental fee at ‘Front of Hongik University’, artists’ strong demands for using a public space, inconsistent regulations, the street environment that threats pedestrians, and the rapidly increasing number of foreign visitors. All of these are the current situation of Front of Hongik University.
