Portuguese architects Risco shared with us their project Arena Dragão Caixa, a pavilion for Football Club. The project was completed in 2009 and has an area of 13,900 m2. You can see more images and architect’s description after the break.

The site, which is irregular in shape, is actually the left-over of a network of road infrastructures. The construction of the pavilion is particularly important in urban terms, because it closes the eastern edge of the Antas Detailed Development Plan.

Its location next to the Dragon Stadium, the Metro Station, and the superb views from the square around the stadium are all essential elements of the design. With seating for 2,000 people, the pavilion is intended to house the rest of the Club’s sports.

Não sendo propriamente fã do Salgado, a verdade é que o resultado até é bom considereando o terreno complicado onde o pavilhão está implantado.

A polivalência da clarabóia é, em si, um espetáculo impressionante.

The versatility of the skylight is, in itself, an amazing spectacle.
