Text description provided by the architects. Wouldn’t it be great if the interior concept for a store could be flexible, easy repeatable and at the same time unique, high quality and true to the brands values? Creating this, was the ambition for the new Won hundred store.

Instead of using a rigid modular system, MAPT chose something that has the repetitive quality of a modular system, but with a more loose and playful attitude. The hollow wooden ‘log’ was the perfect choice. The ‘logs’ can be stacked, staggered and rotated, creating spaces on, between, in and under for displaying items.

The ‘logs’ are made from pine and treated with a natural wax. They are a reinterpretation of Scandinavian style where craftsmanship, simple materials and a clean design is combined to create a look that is in line with the Won hundred brand. The interior is designed exclusively for Won hundred. Often furniture and interior for shops are one-off’s, created mainly to look and not to perform - just like props for a theatre play. MAPT wanted to create real furniture that would stand the ware and tare, making it possible to recompose the interior, move elements from one shop to another and mix brand new elements with old. By making the interior elements both multifunctional and high quality, the lifespan of these are enhanced.

For MAPT resource awareness is a crucial design parameter. We believe that making better products that lasts longer will generate less waste. While being a sensible and sustainable solution to making store interior, it also creates a more appealing experience for the user.
