Hotel Indigo Taipei is a hotel and retail complex located in Taipei’s newly developed commercial and business district in Dazhi. Hotel Indigo aims to become the new highlight landmark of the district. The design concept uses Dazhi’s local historical context, where the brick and tile industry and kilns once prospered.

When it comes to large scale residential buildings, a complex set of economic, urban, and regulatory systems sometimes seem to have left little room for architectural exploration. Architects often struggle to find a point of entry for inserting their creative perspective in a way that would rethink or progress the typology. The resulting buildings typically reflect the reality of the efficiency driven market - maximized footprint, relentless repetition, and lowest common denominator design appeal.

This project turns the old trees in Xinsheng Park into a magic driving force inviting buildings to extend, either high or low, among the trees, offering visitors scenic view and communication.
