In this low-density residential area in Zaragoza, we find this particular single-family house. The feature of the plot, between two others already built by brothers from the client, was crucial and the main conditioning of the project, beyond the strictly normative and climatic characteristics from this area. The project was tainted from the beginning with the need for a continuity involving the three plots, as a single space keeping the three buildings pretty much as they share one single exterior field, but with a never loose sight of the so necessary privacy and respect for the already built. Surrounded in the north by a sports equipment zone with a pool, also shared by the three single-family houses, seek to achieve a whole idea of an ensemble.

The UVB house is an enclosed volume opened to the garden, the courtyard and the sky. Its morphology is a result of the adaptation to its surroundings, sunlight orientation and the desired lifestyle of its future inhabitants. Located in a neighborhood were houses were too packed to enjoy privacy, the strategy was to maximize the façade’s closure in the adjacent areas to the neighbors while opening the house to the south and the open views. By contrast, the interior of the house is full of visual connections among the different floors, offering continuous glimpses of the exterior garden and the blue sky.

Located in the heart of Zaragoza, in the basement of a residential building previously occupied by a bus station, the site where the Liang Xin Center is located has a street facade and an interior area that extends to the inside of the block. For the first Liang Xin Center outside Malaysia, we propose an architecture of dark tones based on the darkness and silence of the empty space and the articulation of the interior routes, and attentive to the different degrees of opacity of materials. In this sense, the new facade is made entirely of copper. In this case, to its qualities as a natural material that is modified over time, tinting its tones and early reflections, is added the opportunity to drill pixelated patterns offered by digital technology. This process allows us to integrate into a single material the graphic identity elements and the images symbolizing the four concepts in Liang Xin philosophy from its origins -Relaxation, freedom, harmony and generosity- avoiding the superposition of materials that is usual in this type of project.
