The house is located at the top of a hill, which provides a beautiful view of the forest in front and the city of São José in the background. To adapt to the irregular shape of the land, the house's layout fits within the projection of a triangle, arranged in an L shape within it.

It was designed for a couple who, with the arrival of the pandemic, felt the need to enjoy outdoor spaces that a residence can provide. Architect Priscila Pereira accompanied the clients from the moment of choosing the land.

The natural profile of the land has a slope with a 1.5-meter drop relative to the street. The house design sought to organize the relationship between the collective social spaces and the street in a more open way, while creating a sense of intimacy for the bedroom areas.

The lot in one of the highest points of the condominium was the key point for the decision-making of the Apuí house party, the steep slope in front of the lot created a large plateau 6m above street level. The architectural project was developed based on 3 essential premises: ensuring privileged views, preserving the largest possible area for gardens and lawns, as well as minimizing earth movement to preserve the integrity of the original terrain profile. We defined the plateau as the reference point, creating in it the main floor of the residence.

The house had its program organized in three levels: leisure, social, and private. On the lowest level, there is the swimming pool, the backyard, and the barbecue area. On the ground level, where there is the main access to the house, there are the areas with the biggest flow and that need easy access: the garage, the utility room, the living room, the kitchen, and the office. On the upper level, there are three suites and a private room reserved for the family. The connection among these levels is made by a single central staircase and the ambiances were arranged with openings to the front and to the back of the lot, in the shape of an H.

We were asked to design the Social Headquarters of a condominium recently installed in São José dos Campos - Brazil, in an expansion of the city called Urbanova. This region is distinguished by large areas with remnants of the previous occupation - agricultural properties - in addition to having new access roads and a preserved native forest adjacent to the site of project implementation.

The main request of the couple was to make a house with a roof and great offer of external area. We proposed a large sloping roof in metal structure and L-shaped installation, where the yard turned into a large lawn fully integrated with the internal space. The large frames allow the total opening of the spaces on the ground floor by diluting the boundaries between the interior and exterior. Still, on the ground floor, there is a service and kitchen core that does not have access to the central lawn.

The Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA) in São José de Campos is engaged in an expansion project to take on twice the number of students. A collective of São Paulo-based firms involving METRO, MMBB and Piratininga Arquitetos are leading the corresponding architectural project and will work in the context of an architecturally significant existing campus, possessing buildings and urban design by Oscar Niemeyer. From a suite of new buildings that includes also a new library and a residential area intended for the faculty of the institution, METRO is responsible for the 1200 seat auditorium and the Fundamental Sciences Department, that became the first to be built and was finished in October 2018.
