The city's architectural identity is deeply rooted in its UNESCO World Heritage-listed historic center, where Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque styles converge. Iconic landmarks like the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral and its surrounding plazas embody Spain's rich cultural and spiritual legacy, forming the heart of this timeless urban fabric.

The house between-lines arises from the desire to systematize and expedite the constructive solutions. Our clients had a tight budget so, in a sense, we had to escape from constructive rhetoric and anything that was not essential. This home is a simple system, both implantation and constructive. Order patterns easily repeatable and without complex technologies. Its form arises from the interior uses being able to be varied by virtue of these.

Not every piece of architecture can be an economic and social success. But there is one dreaded term reserved for only the mot wasteful of projects: "white elephants." The term comes from a story of the kings of Siam, now Thailand, who would reportedly gift sacred albino elephants to courtiers they didn't like. Refusing the gift from the king would have been unacceptable, but being sacred, these animals were forbidden from work, leading the courtier to financial ruin—a fact the kings knew all too well.

The commission focused on the rehabilitation of an old kiln that was part of a tannery, located on the grounds of current Belvis Park. It was to design a cultural facility with a very open program; the intervention sought to value a historic building providing multifunctional space for exhibitions, meetings, concert halls, film projections, etc. Also the toilets were to serve the park.

The Spanish city of Santiago de Compostela became a World Heritage Site in 1985. Since then the Council has been working on buildings, both public and private. Over the last years, the Council has begun working on public space too; the parks, the streets or the squares. But even so there are still vacant sites in the city, complicated sites, without any clear use or even good access.
