The assignment was to design a country house. The place should be the same that has been occupied by the old house that hosted the family for 35 years, since around it a large park had developed over the years, with great dedication. Always with the idea of doing the definitive house, the park was slowly consolidated through a masterplan that included stables, pens, water mirrors, a swimming pool, and a barbecue area.

A design competition for the Institutional Building of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development in the O'Higgins Region, was called in order to recover the long time disregarded lot of the former prison of Rancagua. The land is embedded in a consolidated commercial area close to the train station. The future building must include two independent units: SERVIU and SEREMI. The lot subdivision strategy was part of the proposal, leaving land available for future development.

Chile may soon be home to the only Antoni Gaudí-designed building located outside of Spain. At a recent press conference, Chilean President Michelle Bachelet confirmed government funding for the construction of the Gaudí Cultural and Spiritual Center in the city of Rancagua, which will include a chapel designed by the Catalán architect.

The design for this house is proposed from the coexistence of two domestic programs: a resident family composed of a couple, and a visiting family composed of 3 children and their families. The program consists of two parts: the first, which takes place in a line composed by the access, dining room, kitchen, common areas and master bedroom, is understood as the "main house". The second, - which should not be dissociated from the former but should retain its individuality - is understood as the elastic program, a portion that is literally inserted within the main volume, whose use is preferably during the weekend.
