The plot of 6,600 square meters has a strategic location, in a dominant point of the suburb, with a uniform downward slope from south to north and privileged views to the east (Madrid) and to the north (Sierra de Guadarrama).

The house is located in a residential area comprising detached houses. It is accessed from the streets on the east and west sides of the block on which the plot is situated. It has an irregular and slightly longitudinal shape. The compact building was designed according to a basic requirement of the property owners: not break the continuity of the free outdoor space between the two streets, a condition that determined the orientation of the house and its relationship with the exterior. Not having a horizon, IA_house traces the limits of its domestic space in the walls containing the plot, barely three metres in the north and 11 in the south, without interruption.

The Retamar School had a chapel for 250 persons, after 50 years of teaching activity and a capacity of more than 2.250 pupils, insufficient for the important annual festivities taking place in this center. We got the commission to present a proposal to substitute the existing building for a new one, with a capacity of 600 persons and an additional auditorium for 450 spectators. Our project was looking for the integration with the rest of the edification, constructed in bricks, but being a representative building for the school at the same time, standing out with its grand roof done out of green zinc.
