A break on the hill.
The order is a second home for a family on the slopes of a hill located in the southern sector of Laguna Aculeo, Paine. The conditions of the terrain with an angle of 30 degrees create the following problem: How, in addition to accommodating the traditional program, is the family reunion generated and possible? The work tries to solve this through the creation of a pause, a new horizon that on one hand projects us from the ground to the descent of the slope and on the other, the construction define a space for the encounter. Thus, the landscape is an excuse and a backdrop for daily acts. The construction protects but emphasizes and reinforces the idea of dominance. For this, it is proposed to separate the program into two volumes, one with the common areas and another one with the bedroom areas.

This project is set against the backdrop of the pre-Andean landscape of the Central Valley, famous for its remarkable landmarks. Facing the breath-taking mountain range of the Andes towards the South and the East, and looking onto a rolling, luxuriant valley of almond trees to the West, the house is located eastward next to a water reservoir, which has become an integral part of the surrounding landscape. Positioned along an East-West axis, its facades open onto the North and South directions, allowing thereby to create a luminous atmosphere, whilst avoiding harsh sunlight.

This project sets out from my own inability to clearly tell the difference between fiction and reality in architecture. The relationship between object and narrative entails what I consider a diffused ground worth being explored. Through the means of traditional cinematographic technique, the construction I hereby introduce creates an imagery of abandonment of the world by virtue of an accumulation of images, symbols and spatial sensations that relate directly to the archetypical features of objects and spaces that have historically accompanied processes of abandonment, deterritorialization, exile and self-exile.
