        <![CDATA[<p>The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has announced the 30 winners of the 2023 <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/tag/riba-national-awards">RIBA National Awards</a> for Architecture, providing an insight into the country’s architecture, design, and social trends. Among the key themes observed this year, the need to rebuild communities and to find sustainable ways of practicing stand out as the main concerns of the participant architects. The response to these themes is varied, ranging from buildings that aim to offer opportunities for collaboration for students to creating stimulating social spaces for the elderly or providing creative programs at a neighborhood scale. All the projects selected have been in use for at least one year and have provided data regarding their environmental performance. Examples of sustainable design include both new buildings, following the Passivhaus certification, and renovation of existing structures.</p>]]>

The proposed new university, will focus on digital economy skills and practical, business-oriented courses; it also plans to offer fast-track two-year degrees. MK:U, a partnership between MKC and Cranfield University, will use the new University Quarter and the wider city as a ‘living lab’ to test out new concepts and ideas while inspiring students and citizens.</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>Inspired by the dolls’ house that <a href="http://www.royalcollection.org.uk/visit/windsorcastle/what-to-see-and-do/queen-marys-dolls-house?utm_medium=website&amp;utm_source=archdaily.com" target="_blank">Edwin Lutyens designed</a> for The British Empire Exhibition in 1922, twenty British practices are each designing a contemporary dolls’ house in aid of the disabled childrens’ charity <a href="http://www.kids.org.uk/?utm_medium=website&amp;utm_source=archdaily.com" target="_blank">KIDS</a>. Each version will sit on a 750mm square plinth to be auctioned at Bonham's on the 11th November and contains one feature which would make life easier for a disabled child. As reported by </span><a href="http://www.bdonline.co.uk/news/london-heavyweights-on-shortlist-to-design-new-met-police-hq/5058519.article?utm_medium=website&amp;utm_source=archdaily.com" style="line-height: 1.45em;" target="_blank">BDOnline</a><span style="line-height: 1.45em;">, the shortlisted firms will each propose a “landmark building for London” that will provide a “modern and efficient working environment” for the new Metropolitan Police Service Headquarters. The judging panel, spearheaded by architect Bill Taylor and RIBA Adviser Taylor Snell, will review the proposals in September. </span></p>]]>
