        <![CDATA[<p class="p1">Following an <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/tag/competition">international competition</a>, <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/tag/caruso-st-john">Caruso St John Architects</a> has been appointed to renovate the iconic <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/tag/kunsthalle-bielefeld">Kunsthalle Bielefeld</a> in Northwest <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/country/germany/page/1">Germany</a>. Designed by <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/tag/philip-johnson">Philip Johnson</a> and completed in 1968, the structure is Johnson’s only <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/tag/museum">museum</a> in Europe. Despite past maintenance efforts, the building remains largely unchanged from its original state. The <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/tag/renovation">renovation</a> aims to modernize the museum’s services, exterior, and interior spaces. </p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>The <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/tag/uk">UK</a> Holocaust Memorial Foundation and <a href="https://malcolmreading.co.uk/?utm_medium=website&amp;utm_source=archdaily.com" target="_blank">Malcolm Reading Consultants</a> have revealed the designs of 10 teams shortlisted to design a new Holocaust Memorial, to be located in London's Victoria Tower Gardens next to the Houses of Parliament. After a call for expressions of interest was launched in September, <a href="http://www.archdaily.com/799703/10-teams-shortlisted-in-competition-for-new-national-holocaust-memorial-in-london">10 star-studded teams were selected in November</a> and invited to submit their designs for an "emotionally powerful and sensitively designed memorial."</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>The City of <a href="http://www.archdaily.com/tag/stockholm/" target="_blank">Stockholm</a> has named <a href="http://www.archdaily.com/tag/caruso-st-john/" target="_blank">Caruso St John</a>, working with Swedish practice <a href="http://www.archdaily.com/tag/scheiwiller-svensson-arkitektkontor/" target="_blank">Scheiwiller Svensson</a>, as the architects for a renovation of <a href="http://www.archdaily.com/tag/gunnar-asplund/" target="_blank">Gunnar Asplund</a>'s 1928 <a href="http://www.archdaily.com/92320/ad-classics-stockholm-public-library-gunnar-asplund/" target="_blank">Stockholm Public Library</a>. The work will see alterations to the interior spaces of the main building and annex, as well as the three additional "bazaars" built to the west of the original building between 1930 and 1953, however there will be no alterations to the external appearance of the building.</p>]]>

The award celebrates every aspect of what makes a museum successful, but this year the list was highlighted by crucial work by architects, including <a href="http://www.archdaily.com/452466/critical-round-up-tate-britain-renovation-caruso-st-john/" target="_blank">renovations of the Tate Britain</a> and the Ditchling Museum of Art &amp; Craft, as well as the newly-constructed <a href="http://www.archdaily.com/381605/mary-rose-museum-wilkinson-eyre-architects/" target="_blank">Mary Rose Museum</a> in <a href="http://www.archdaily.com/tag/portsmouth/" target="_blank">Portsmouth</a>.
