As most of the traditional Lilongs in Shanghai. West Guizhou lilong in Huangpu district has over a century’s history. It is facing the aging challenges, like limited household space, damaged facilities, and outdated life quality. Among the current Lilong households, 40% of them do not have private toilets, 60% of them has to use public kitchens. In the meantime, because of the changing urban social environment, the structure in a neighborhood is more and more complicated. The regrouping of families and the division of common living spaces have created problems regarding daily maintenance and restorations. Additionally, Due to the aging problem of the community, the economic ability becomes relatively low, and the community's consensus declines. Therefore, the residents are less motivated to renovate spaces themselves and are less willing to cooperate with others.
