Our task here was to create a contemporary space within an existing one that dates back to 1960. The town's municipal gymnasium and theatre formed a historical whole, but the site's sports facilities needed to be modernized to host major competitions and cultural events. A desire for architectural coherence and respect for the existing built heritage guided our approach. So, we preserved the stone wall that gave visual structure to the whole site and that now serves as a link between periods of time. We also kept the original entrance portico, which remains the landmark it always has been for the town's inhabitants. The forms of the gymnasium's facade were borrowed from those of the existing theatre. With its tall, vertical openings and its solid sections alternating with glazed portions, this sports center – called "le SPOT" (for "le Site Polyvalent Omnisport de Thionville") – extends the theatre as if the two buildings were created at the same time and as if the new edifice were honouring the site's heritage while placing it firmly in modernity.

Alta unveils an ambitious office project located on the Chemin du Bois Harel, a site transforming the edge between Rennes and Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande. Once a market gardening area marked by the Crublé greenhouses, closed in 2004, this reconfigured territory lies between countryside and urban periphery. To the west, a rural landscape dotted with scattered housing; to the east, the Rennes ring road with its constant flow of traffic. At the intersection of these two contrasting realities, the site provides fertile ground for a new vision of urbanity. Alta envisions here a connecting architecture—simple and contemporary—designed to bridge the scale of daily life with that of the broader landscape, while preserving quality of life.

KAAN Architecten has completed JUMP in Paris, a vision of urban vitality and sustainable design principles. JUMP is located at the intersection of diverse urban areas in Aubervilliers, Paris. Commissioned by Icade, KAAN Architecten designed a building that connects two green zones, "Place du Front Populaire" and the urban forest of "Parc Icade des Portes de Paris". With its colossal landing, JUMP has established itself as the central point of convergence in the area. The building integrates a hotel, offices, retail spaces, and parking. The design embraces the area's eclectic architecture and enhances the dynamism of this urban area served by Metro Line 12.

By 2030, the city of Bordeaux aims for European influence with Euratlantique. With the arrival of the high-speed rail link (LGV) in 2017, this Operation of National Interest (OIN) focuses on the construction of a business center around the Saint-Jean station. Thus, the urban renewal initiated nearly twenty years ago continues between the Sacré-Cœur district and the railway tracks. It includes the development of the former industrial site of the ZAC Amédée-Saint-Germain, one of the five areas of the Saint-Jean Belcier project. The Sacré-Cœur district was spontaneously built in a very homogeneous urban form composed of large residential blocks, occasionally interrupted by 20th-century buildings. The fabric consists of Bordeaux “échoppes”, small single-story townhouses spread over long and narrow plots, a kind of pastiche of classical palaces. The neighborhood has a very small number of facilities and thus lacks attractiveness on a metropolitan scale. The ZAC plot is located to the south, on the edge of the so-called “stone city”, in a topographical enclave: it is separated from street level by 4.20 meters due to railway activities. Situated between Rue de Bègles and Rue Furtado, it borders Rue Amédée-Saint-Germain and the network of tracks. It is full of some remarkable remnants of industrial activity, structures such as the forge workshop, the tanks, and the Amédée workshop, characterized by arches along their facades.

The house on the roof talks about scale, the human one of the inhabitant and his housing and those of his built environment. We tried to find coherence and a dialogue with the multiple scales and typologies present in the near context. This work on volumes allowed us to think about continuity with the surrounding context in a concern of accompaniment and transition scales involved.
