In the middle of Berlin's City West, at Olof-Palme-Platz with its entrance to the Berlin Zoo, the former headquarters of a bank has been replaced by a contemporary office tower with a far-reaching urban presence. The new sculptural structure marks the exposed street corner at the intersection of the curved Budapester Strasse, Kurfürstenstrasse, and Nürnberger Strasse.

A milestone in modern timber construction, SKAIO is Germany’s first wooden high-rise and currently the country’s tallest wooden building. Its timber-frame construction is, to a large extent, prefabricated, comprised of supporting structures made of laminated timber, and wooden slabs that rest on steel ring beams that resonate with the slim design of the construction. The project is part of the recently developed residential quarter Neckarbogen, an urban district in Heilbronn.

The five-star superior hotel THE FONTENAY is implemented on the site of the former Hotel In-terContinental, a unique location on the banks of Hamburg‘s Außenalster lake. The design for the hotel, which opened in spring 2018, originated in an urban planning and architectural design competition, which Störmer Murphy and Partners won in 2014 (interior design in collaboration with Matteo Thun & Partners).

This project is about the ATAKULE's resurrection. Perching on city's highest peak in Çankaya, at the southern tip of the Atatürk Boulevard, which is one of the critical axes on Jansen's Plan (1928-1932) ATAKULE has long been identified with the city of Ankara. The tower was baptized in a referendum when people voted to name it after the founder and the first president of the Republic, Atatürk; hence the name Atakule (kule, meaning tower).

A nine-story office building of 25,000 m2 is completed on Bertha-Benz-Straße as a fourth and final component of the “Lehrter Stadtquartier”, directly south-west of Berlin’s main railway station. The building is in direct dialog with the three other volumes of the ensemble, for which clear master planning directives were given in terms of the buildings’ volume, height, and materiality.

Announcing its return to Essen, the principal, ThyssenKrupp AG, clearly turns its attention to the region where the technology giant has its roots. The company continues to write its history on the grounds of the former Fried. Krupp cast iron factory from 1811. Typologically, the new quarter follows the idea of campus architecture, an ensemble of various individual buildings on a “green carpet” with trees, connecting paths and small squares. Expectations were focused on a structure that would flexibly react to changes within the company. The Q1 building is the readily noticeable accent at the centre of the structure-providing main water axis.
