The new building for the University of the Arts (Uniarts) Helsinki, the Academy of Fine Arts, provides students and staff with exceptional facilities for tuition and making art within an architecturally distinct building. The architecture celebrates the imaginative integration of existing structures and pays homage to the history of Sörnäinen, a post-industrial neighborhood buzzing today with young urban life.

General Description The Lauttasaari Day Care Center is going to host places for 250 children. The functional aim for the premises is to support on the one hand the small group activities, on the other hand, to offer possibilities for spontaneous play and creative activities. The starting point for the design process has been activities in small groups, yet it is also possible to arrange activities for various group sizes according to need. The bilingual daycare center is a collective project of Early and Preschool Education and Helsinki Local Education departments. The zoning plan No. 12338 made for the plot has been ratified on 17.2.2016. The construction is planned to begin during autumn 2017 and the project is estimated to be completed in early 2019.

The contemporary feel of the office environment is future proofed for changes in working methods in years to come. The design of the building also provides a showcase for Kesko’s products and services.

Amos Rex has its origins in the Amos Anderson Art Museum, which since 1965 has been Helsinki’s leading private museum. To meet changes in the practice and display of contemporary art in the 21st Century, the trustees of the Amos Anderson Art Museum concluded that a new venue would be better suited for providing new art experiences than the museum’s existing accommodation in converted newspaper offices. The nearby Lasipalatsi building, one of Finland’s best-preserved examples of 1930s functionalist architecture was identified as a new home for the museum.

An addition to the Helsinki University campus area in Kumpula neighborhood. The building comprises communal spaces and more than 200 student apartments. The small site is wedged on a steep slope between heavy traffic and the faculty buildings. Due to the heavy traffic apartments could partly be opened only to the courtyard. The subsequent semi-cold access gallery forms the main façade of the building. The pleated façade both protects the indoor spaces from solar overheating and disperses the heavy traffic noises so that it doesn’t reverberate to the opposing low-rise residential area.
