During an expansion from 2002, the headquarters of the Beton-Eisack company in Klausen had been supplemented by a striking office building by architects Armin Blasbichler and Matthias Rainer, which ever since prominently forms the entrance to the company grounds in a levitating manner. The aim of the current project was – 20 years later – to create functionally efficient and pleasant spaces that would meet the company's changed needs while providing an appropriate stage for the concrete that is being developed and produced by the company. Fundamentally new is a space for seminars and other events.

The new tavern is located in the old town of Brixen near the main cathedral. The building dates back to the 13th century. Among other uses over the centuries, it has been the official residence of the cathedral’s dean. Several historical rooms now offer contiguous spaces for up to a hundred guests. An inner courtyard and a sunny garden complete the restaurant. The aim of the project was to restore the building’s original character. Rooms and surfaces that had been built in the meantime were removed, so as to preserve or refurbish historically valuable elements. Already existing but blocked openings were also uncovered in order to protect the historical monument.

Sited on the grounds of the town’s former school, the project incorporates part of the existing structure within its walls to propose an entirely new building that houses a kindergarten, an elementary school, a branch library, and a large gymnasium that also serves as a much loved multipurpose hall. The four, interdependent programs are combined to economize means and maximize the potential for community engagement. Social events, festivals, local choral and theatre associations, the book club and many more events, people and initiatives are galvanized together in a building so much more than simply a school. Articulated in section to afford multiple access points, the building grounds itself in the roots and traditions of S. Andrea to create a series of outdoor playgrounds and public squares able to give new form to a place of learning and culture.

Educational ensemble
The idea of the educational ensemble originated from a study in 2005, which involved the local community to develop a holistic concept for the village. Based on the original building of the 1970s, where the school and the kindergarten were housed together, a concept developed over the years which allows both facilities more space and interaction whilst at the same time integrating the existing village library.

Nestling within the village structure of Valdaora di Sotto in South Tyrol, the kindergarten building communicates the interplay between tradition, contemporary life and nature. The third kindergarten made by feld72 aligns itself within its tranquil background without being subordinate to it. Self-evident and uncontrived. Embedded sensuously in its location, the building responds to the dominant aura of the parish church with the cemetery chapel and the elementary school in the centre of Valdaora di Sotto. The timber building sits as though in an encasement within the massive surrounding wall, lending security.
