Context - Facing Bordeaux's iconic 18th-century "stone city," the Bastide-Niel district introduces an unconventional urban form. Designed with heliotropic principles and narrow grids by urban planner MVRDV, the area extends Bordeaux's vibrant urban life to the Garonne River's right bank. Roofs define the district's identity, creating a striking silhouette of varied scales and sloping planes that shape its innovative fabric.

Apartments in Illkirch - Graffenstaden / Tectône

The project is located in the "Les Prairies du Canal" quarter in Illkirch-Graffenstaden, eastern France, an inhabited woodland, free of any car traffic. Close to the Rhine-Rhône Canal, the site enjoys a privileged environment dominated by nature in order to promote biodiversity and create social links between the inhabitants.

Nantes island is situated in Nantes city in western France and has been the center of the regional industry for decades until the 90s when it was progressively abandoned. Our project is part of the huge restructuring of this abandoned part of the city that has started in the 2000s. In 2014 “CDC Habitat” and “Maison Familiale de Loire-Atlantique” associated with the co-houses « Les Ruches » were selected to lead the construction of 100 apartments counting 15 co-houses in the future quarter of Prairie au Duc, in the city of Nantes. In 2015 an oral competition was organized to select the architectural team that would design and build this housing complex. Our team (composed of the studios: tectone architectes urbanistes and tact architect ) was then selected, on account of our vision on the architectural program, our comprehension of the context, our experiences, and our coordination expertise.
