The new building physically extends from CCA's existing main academic building to create a vibrant indoor-outdoor environment for learning and making, strengthening relationships among varied people, ideas, and creative practices. "The design intends to create a dynamic environment for art and design education, while also inspiring new forms of making through unexpected interactions between disciplines," says Jeanne Gang, Founding Partner of Studio Gang. The award-winning project consists of two residence halls totaling 81,000 sf, housing 150 students in single bedroom, suite style living units. The North hall houses 73 beds; the South hall houses 77. Both buildings are 2 and 3 stories. The project also includes the headquarters for the campus Outdoor Action program and administration offices for the Campus Sustainability department both located on the ground floor of the South hall in addition to an underground 175 car parking garage with a natural turf field above located directly below the North hall</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>A 35-foot long sky bridge interconnects Twitter’s headquarters spaces occupying the upper floors of neighboring buildings in the Mid-Market District of <a href="/tag/san-francisco">San Francisco</a>. Allowing users to circulate between their offices at the ninth level alleviates congestion of the elevators connecting the buildings’ densely occupied office floors. This elevated walkway provides new opportunities for employees to intermingle as they travel between the buildings, and fosters a greater sense of community within the company.</p>]]>

The Center, which opened in January 2013, provides SFJAZZ with its first permanent home in the organization’s 30-year history and establishes a hub of music, culture, and community.         <![CDATA[<p>House of Air, started in 2010 by two young entrepreneurs interested in the action sports world, is a trampoline facility that caters to the discriminating taste of the young, energetic and affluent population of active San Francisco. The breathtaking site is at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge and in the Golden Gate National Park, with expansive views out to the San Francisco Bay that become even more apparent when the 45' wide glazed hanger door is opened. Inside the historic biplane hanger, a large field trampoline for bouncing sits along side a trampoline dodge ball court and three performance trampolines used for both competitive jumping as well as ski / snowboard / wakeboard training. Flanking the trampoline area are two pavilions housing a café, meeting facilities, lockers, and a lounge. Translucent blue walls lit from within are graphic interpretations of the vertical motion which takes place throughout the facility.</p> ]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>Since the construction of the Palomar Observatory in 1948, the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) has continuously pioneered new ways of observing and explaining the heavens. Caltech scientists and engineers have deployed ever-changing telescopes on satellites, rockets, and balloons, and with these have made fundamental discoveries leading to new theoretical models. Paramount discoveries that have come out of Caltech include the cosmological nature of distant quasars, gamma-ray bursts, and brown dwarfs. In 2007 alone, Caltech astronomers found the largest object orbiting the sun since the discovery of Pluto in 1930, as well as the most distant galaxy in the universe. Yet, over the decades, the various specialists dispersed across the Caltech campus. The Cahill Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics brings together a dozen different groups with vastly different cultures, focuses, and scopes into a single structure designed to facilitate collaboration and spontaneous discourse.<br></p>]]>
