"Of Carbondale, not in Carbondale" was the team's statement of intent in achieving a meaningful, organic connection to the community as well as an interconnection to the site that would inform the architecture's making. Carbondale was voted among the "the fifty next great towns" in the US in 2008 by National Geographic and is home to an eclectic mix of artists, architects, foodies, environmentalists and recreationists. The design team researched this history in depth to lay the groundwork for working in this exceptional setting.

In collaboration with Boston-based childcare design experts D.W. Arthur Associates Architecture (www.dwarthur.com), our team created a facility that explicitly educates and stimulates children through its design. With a threefold objective, the Rafter J Childcare needed to fit contextually into its ranch like neighborhood, achieve a minimum LEED Silver rating, and experientially stimulate its young users.

Colorado based Roth Sheppard Architects were hired to redesign the Museum Shop for the recognizable Denver Art Museum by Daniel Libeskind. The original shop’s poor sales and limited foot traffic initiated the project. Roth Sheppard Architects took the challenge of working within the recognizable building, and created a space that not only looks the part, but has significantly increased sales for the museum shop.
