The Bobby Moore Academy Secondary School is a new 6FE secondary school for 1140 pupils on one of the smallest secondary school sites in London. Situated in the heart of the Olympic Park, it provides much-needed education and community facilities to support the growing local neighborhood. Penoyre & Prasad has created a new exemplar for the high-rise school, a design comprising 9,240m2 of diverse learning and social spaces across six stories, woven together through vertical and horizontal connections.

Wilkins Terrace / Levitt Bernstein

Through UCL’s masterplan, Levitt Bernstein identified an opportunity to create a new courtyard terrace above an existing service yard. As well as providing a high-quality outdoor space for staff and students, this opens up a new east-west route to improve accessibility across campus. The existing service yard had become unsightly but was overlooked by a number of important university buildings. The challenge was to connect these disparate elements with one cohesive design – all the more problematic considering the Wilkins Building is Grade I listed.

Stoke Newington School is a successful inner-city school in London with a specialism in Media, Arts and Science. Jestico + Whiles was appointed by the school in 2011 to create a new dedicated sixth form centre on site to deal with growing student numbers at sixth form level. The practice had previous experience of working with the school having redeveloped the entire building as part of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme in 2010.

As the main focus of the 135-acre Semper Fidelis Memorial Park, The National Museum of the Marine Corps, just outside of Washington D.C., opened in 2006 to coincide with the Marine Corps’ 231st anniversary. The primary building of the Marine Corps Heritage Center contains 120,000 square feet of museum gallery space, an orientation theater, office space, gift shop, and two restaurants, all welcoming visitors to explore the history and values of the Corps.

New Stobhill Hospital, designed by Reiach and Hall Architects for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, represents the first of its kind to open in Scotland. Procured under PPP, the brief was for a true ACAD (ambulatory care and diagnostic) facility. The ethos behind the project is that the patient comes first: all medical tests and consultations will be carried out on the same day on the same site if possible, and if a medical procedure is required, the patient will be given a fixed appointment date there and then.
