Faced with the combined forces of population growth, economic prosperity, and urban expansion, cities are witnessing a significant rise in the movement of people and goods—mirroring the evolution of diverse mobility systems within urban environments. As technologies advance and modes of transport evolve, the adaptive reuse of train carriages, airplane cabins, and other service infrastructures reveals opportunities to explore their creative potential. Materials, technologies, and design tools converge around a shared goal: refurbishing and repurposing disused structures to give them new life.

The once low-density farmlands and vegetable gardens had formed a maze of winding alleys. After urban redevelopment, what remained was an address that could no longer be precisely located — "Lane 10" — which became both the origin of the project's name and its design concept.

Taiwan is a fertile ground for cultural creativity, hosting tens of thousands of cultural exhibitions annually across the island. When tasked by the Ministry of Culture with the space design for a net-zero carbon reduction exhibition, we re-evaluated the one-time waste often generated by past exhibitions. We challenged ourselves to transform common, everyday rental logistics pallets, rental lighting, infinitely reusable ratchet straps, and metal hardware into the main characters of the exhibition.

Located in Huangpu New Village, Fengshan—one of Taiwan's earliest military dependents' villages—this café embraces restraint as its primary design strategy. The architectural framework and original residential layout are preserved, while the space is sensitively adapted to accommodate both the brand's identity and commercial functionality. At the entrance, a neon installation traces the trajectory of time, extending the design language of temporality. This dynamic light feature serves as both a visual anchor and a guiding element within the former vestibule.

SHEN NONG SHI is located in the prime area of Taipei City, Taiwan. It is one of the few remaining typical Taiwanese townhouses amidst the rapid urban development of Taipei. Contrasted with the surrounding commercial buildings filled with chaotic signs and neon lights, the exterior of this building bears the marks of time. It stands quietly in the midst of the city. Through the initial survey, we discovered how to create a building facade that can engage in a dialogue with the city, unlike traditional commercial buildings. This design approach aligns with the owner's vision of using this space for innovative AI technology research and development, thus creating a different spatial use and architectural expression from the past. This became the starting point for our design.

The aim is to deeply engage with Yancheng Warehouse culture through these visual elements.

It shares the same violent and unregulated architectural forms as the surrounding environment, such as iron cover and illegal construction. The building skin has experienced traces of use over time. After the site survey, we found that this area has a unique urban context and historical traces, which also triggers how we locate QUAN.
