Student housing has undergone a remarkable transformation over the last century. Once seen as a utilitarian necessity, providing shelter and basic amenities for students, this architectural typology has evolved to address increasingly complex societal, cultural, and urban demands. Starting with Le Corbusier's modernist approach at the Cité Universitaire in Paris, student housing has reflected broader trends in architecture, urbanism, and social change.

Kalvebod Fælled School creates the framework for lifelong learning. Here, a social vision of sports and children leading active lives finds its shape. The school is situated in the protected landscape of Ørestad South in Copenhagen, between the grazing cattle and the city. It’s an open, bustling community. When the school day ends for the students, others join; parents and local community residents use the gymnasium and classrooms for sports, courses, and social events.

Playgrounds are meant to stimulate play, but most are designed based on grown-ups’ notions of children and how they should behave. With Play Contract, the balance of power is tipped, and now it’s the children’s turn to devise a playful space for themselves and grown-ups. A group of 122 children in Billund, Denmark was given 100,000 pink LEGO bricks to build models for playgrounds. These models were then analyzed and synthesized into five final designs, which were constructed in pink marble. The result is a collage of adventurous ideas and whimsical shapes that have been transformed into Play Contract.

The white body of steel is a luminous and distinctive focal point and meeting place. Visitors will be led on a course full of experiences that start at the quayside and go to the upper platform 7.5 meters above quay-level. The route through the tower leads under an inclined surface and up to the first viewing plateau that hovers above the water. From here, the visitor is led upwards by a broad staircase which serves a lookout to panoramic views of the harbour and bay.
The original dance pavilion Valencia was built in 1861 and designed by H.S. Stilling and is a building with a long history in the Copenhagen entertainments. It has witnessed the rapid growth of the neighborhood as the Copenhagen Rampartswere released in late 1800, and has at first-hand felt the city's explosive growth as the detached dance pavilion in 1889 , was enclosed by the buildings around them. Before the thorough renovation the hall stood unnoticed, and the aim was to bring Valencia back in to the consciousness of the Copenhagen residents.

The Children’s Culture House mediates the varying scales of adjacent buildings through extruding and cutting their forms. The joint of the building, where the extened lines of the existing buildings meet, is low- ered to allow maximum sunlight to reach the neighboring courtyard. The expression of the Children’s Culture House is surpris- ing and imaginative: the roof and facades are treated the same, and the House does not have a “start” and “end” as ordinary houses do.
