Metropolis Center Bucharest is a building complex, which combines an office building, an apartment hotel and retail space in the ground floor. Located in a central city area near to Victoriei Square the plot is distinguished by print house complex, including the owner’s residence, erected at the end of the 19th c. The historical façade of the printing house and the owner`s residence are protected as monument, which fact forms certainly the design approach. The aim is to integrate the new structure and volumes in the existing context, without to devaluate the historical substance, and furthermore to create an elegant symbiosis between old and new. The space between the boulevard and the building is designed as a public space, a kind of piazza inviting the walker to pause and break, offering opportunities for open-air events and happenings.
