The project is located in Wuyanquan Town, Yidu City, Yichang, which is called Shiyangshan No. 1.The site is a quiet rural area 1.5 kilometers down the national highway. Located at the foot of Shiyang Mountain, the land with mountains on the back and forests on the front is the highest point of the surrounding terrain, which has a wide view of the horizon. The owner, Mr. Xu, and his wife hope to realize their dream of escaping the city and returning to the countryside on this piece of land.Shiyang Mountain is named after the many white stones on the mountain, which resemble sheep. During the rainy season, water flows down the hills, carrying away the soil from the bottom. The exposed part of the rock, after being washed by soil and rain and weathered for years, presents different layers to muddy yellow color. However the bare rocks are not tightly together, the client tried to slowly dig out the soil between them, revealing various sizes of "gaps".

Project Background. Located in Luxi County, Tujia-Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Xinangxi, Hunan Province, Xinzhaiping Village is a village with Chinese minority characteristics, which is known as the "Museum of Chinese Ancient Trees". The village is spread out along the mountain with ancient tree groups of about 60 acres，where more than 500 trees can date back more than 100 years. The traditional houses are mostly wooden structures, mainly fir and pine, using local materials to form column and tie construction. Most of the villagers are Hmong, who have preserved a great deal of ethnic culture and traditional customs. Though this village is faced with the population loss, economic backwardness, cultural decline and other common problems that most villages face, it also has its own advantages, beautiful natural landscape, unique culture and a large number of ancient and unique construction resources. Since 2017, Sinopec has joined hands with the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation to carry out "Bona Villa" rural tourism poverty alleviation public welfare project in Tujia-Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Xinangxi. After Bona Villa Lahao Stone Houses project in Fenghuang County, UPA continued to carry out Xinzhaiping Renewal Practice in Luxi County, involving in the whole process design of village planning, phase II homestay and phase III public construction.

Instead of providing for a world of individuals operating within a wider urban environment, schools have become internalized ghettos of childhood, cutting off from communities they are supposed to serve, centrally administered in a “one size fits all” ethos. Designers and architects around the world have always been seeking a more flexible architectural model which will allow much more creativity within the learning process and the environments which serve it.

The Ancient Town of Fenghuang, located in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province, is a famous historical and cultural city in China. It was once called the most beautiful town in China by New Zealand writer Rewi Alley. And it enjoys the same reputation in the south as the Ancient City of Pingyao in the north. Outside the Ancient Town of Fenghuang, there is little-known natural scenery, beautiful Miao villages, and mysterious folk culture with a long history in Miao Township. The whole village is built along the mountains, where stone houses scatter and the roads made of slab-stone wind and stretch. Surrounding trees flourish and the smoke from the kitchen curls upwards, presenting a tranquil and leisure scene like a paradise.

Longba Town is composed by 19 villages, which do not possess a decent market. Groceries are locate along the the town's only main road, and livestock are often slaughtered in the streets, spilling blood on the ground directly. Face such a situation, the government has set aside a small plot of vegetable land to build a market of about 2,500 square meters, which provides a high-quality shopping environment for residents, as well as hosts the annually festival and other activities. Therefore, it is not only a daily market serving the town, but also a festive place radiating the whole county. It should be convenient and comfortable, and also, it needs to have certain publicity.
