Marking its first hybrid (online and in-person) edition, the 3rd International Facade Forum 2023 will take place on April 26. Broadcasting from Mexico City, the event will feature 15 lectures by international speakers under the academic direction of Marshall Academia de Fachadas (Bill Marshall and Karina Tarrisse) and organized by the Sarzabal agency (Hernán Barbero Sarzabal and Maui Cittadini), alongside Daniela Ruiz de Chávez, who is managing the organization in Mexico.

The brand's legacy and attention to detail inspired us to create a “crafted vault” as an entryway to a series of thresholds and transitions. Located to the outskirts of Zapopan, Mexico, this project consists of the headquarters for Anteus Constructora (an iconic local construction company), which form part of the company’s prefabrication plant. The 1,882-square-meter building is developed within a six hectares plot, including parking spaces and outside walkers. Our initial approach was to create a workspace that represented the quality and technology of the company, so we integrated in-house construction systems and materials, such as: post-enslated slabs, pre-tightened slabs, self-compacting concrete, tilt-up walls and pre-cast lattices, complemented with an adequate use of concrete details and finishes.

Located five kilometres from the town of Pinotepa Nacional, Oaxaca, our proposal arises from the collaboration between different architects, developers and above all the inhabitants, in a project of designing the homes of thirty-eight families in a community dedicated to agriculture. This group of homes is a clear example of participatory and community architecture, where residents were interviewed to represent their ideal home in a drawing, collecting different points of view on their lifestyle and traditions.

Tabasco House is in the Mexican rainforest, adapting to this environment is critical, it can make the difference between being useful or a problem. One of the premises for the design of Tabasco House was to take advantage of the site’s condition, which is uprooted in an “L” form, leaning towards the south-west area of the land, allowing an extensive space for terraces, pool and patio, the latter located in the site’s most intimate area. Orientation in these climates is crucial, that’s why we oriented the house to the North.

The house is located in a private neighborhood 20 minutes from Mexico City. Surrounded by a wooded environment, both public and public areas revolve around a central interior patio whose main element is a floating concrete cube that frames the presence of a magnolia illuminated by natural light, which filters through the dome that covers the imposing concrete figure.
