The house is located on a sloping site in Toyonaka City, Osaka, Japan. There are many houses on the north side of which are connected to streets on the sloping site, and on the south side, there is a view of the Hankyu Train and airplanes arriving and departing from Itami Airport.

The project was to build a two-story timber house in Shibukawa City, Gunma Prefecture JAPAN, for the next generation of owners next to the existing compound, which was also refurbished at the same time. The road on the southeast end of the site is a national highway with frequent traffic. By rotating the new house 45 degrees, we created a continuous line from the wall of the existing house. As a result, it formed two gardens where one is shared and connected to the existing building, and another privatized from the existing house.

On the other hand, the building was simple, but when we stepped in one step, we planned a pleasant interior space as if we were in the shade of a tree. Many trees are used for the interior space.

The Tokyo prefecture Chofu City where this second-hand condominium is located is a lush green commuter town where close to the Tama river and the municipal park, and access to the central Tokyo well. There is good access to the Japan Alps owing to the proximity of Chofu Interchange on expressway. We designed a house for a couple who loves mountains in a corner suite on the 4th floor.

The façade creates the image of three overlapping circles rising up from the expansive lawn. A refreshing energy seems to ripple outward across the lawn. The interior blends a tatami-floored Japanese space with a modern-vintage space. The white walls surrounding the indoor space maintains privacy while allowing for plenty of sunlight.

On the site are cherry blossom trees, planted in the area by the hands of pioneers after the World War II. Cherry blossom trees were said to house the spirit of farmlands and have long been regarded as sacred. Of the four distinctive seasons in the area, the blooming cherry blossoms bring a touch of spring, serving as a sign for the farmers to start on the fields.
