Originating as protection against low temperatures around 3,500 years ago, carpets and rugs have, over time, evolved into a true art form, reaching a high level of specialization by the 16th century. Rugs, carpets, and tapestries of various shapes, colors, textures, and patterns are integrated into different areas of the home to meet users' needs and enhance spatial comfort, sometimes extending far beyond their original purpose.

From May 20 to 21, 2023, the Open House architecture and urbanism festival will take place in the city of Rosario, opening the doors of 98 architectural works alongside 8 urban tours to discover and rediscover the city's architecture and urban design. For its sixth edition, this year's festival aims to venture deep into the heart of the city—the home—applying an urban approach committed to the individual and collective memory of the city and its residents, merging tangible built heritage with the traces of time.

COMPOSING THE VOID - Architectural language is made up of concepts that help us produce forms. LANGUAGE AND CONCEPT - All language is based on a relationship between concepts. In architecture, concepts are used to designate the desires and needs that make up a problem and allow us to generate a FORM to solve it. When we talk about spaces, the VOID immediately comes into play. This is understood as that matter that remains intact and that allows the experience of living. The main idea is to achieve a central VOID by piling up the functional program requested by the client as if they were independent container elements. This concept creates a diagrammatic form that consists of organizing all the functional pieces around that EMPTY SPACE.

The site is part of a newly formed development, designed under the logic of a gated community, featuring a completely different layout and located at the edge of the neighborhood. The lot sits at the end of a cul-de-sac, leaving four of its sides as orthogonal party walls, plus a curved front that serves as the building line. The first decision was to build a house between party walls, materializing the boundaries and discarding the idea of a freestanding volume. This is how the continuous, curved facade emerged.

For many, it was likely our first approach to construction. Water and sand merge, transforming into space—something greater than the sum of its parts. While fortresses, bridges, and moats are a thing of the past for some, another typology has emerged to take their place: the house.

The focus of buildings should ultimately be the well-being of the people using them. When we think of our experiences in hospitals, clinics, the dentist's office, and other medical facilities, the feeling is rarely pleasant. Perhaps it's the smells, the dull, monotone colors, or the sound of medical gadgets working away on some unlucky patient.
