The site for the Astir Marina is the Vouliagmeni Peninsula, a lush pine forest along the south coast of Athens, Greece. However, since it's a marina, the actual site is also the new engineered ground that is being constructed in the sea. The concept for the project emerges out of the unique challenge of designing a landscape where there is currently no land. One way of thinking about this lack of land is that it's a blank site – a void – a tabula rasa. But of course, this isn't the case. The sea makes invisible the complex and dynamic ecosystems of the sea bed which is continuous with the visible ground. We started by looking at ways of representing this sea landscape; the nautical charts and maps that use elevation marks, contours, wind vectors, gradients of color, and hatches to represent the territory that is both above and below the water line. We were particularly inspired by the aesthetic of topographic contours, traces of the ground projected onto a flat 2d surface.

The project concerns the complete renovation and conversion of a historic coffee house in the Chora of Serifos into a summer residence. It is a two-story building made of load-bearing stonewalls that dates back to the 1920s. On the ground floor was the main hall and a small preparation room with an internal staircase leading to a second utility room on the first floor.

The study concerns the completion of three distinct vacation residences in an existing complex located at Vagia Beach in Serifos. The intervention revolved around the reinstatement of the relationship between the buildings and the natural relief, as they had initially been constructed at a higher level than permitted, in order to avoid the high water table in the area. Consequently, the ground floor remained cut off from the surrounding environment, while the buildings appeared starkly detached and exposed in relation to the natural terrain.

One for the mountains, one for the sea and one for the people”. Anonymous traveler in Mani. THE ARCHITECTURE - TWO LONELY TOWERS IN THE LANDSCAPE. The main ‘idea’ of the project was to acknowledge and be inspired by a special feature of Mani’s residential forms – the ‘Ksemonia’ (meaning ‘the one who has been left alone’), which were lonely towers or small residential complexes standing alone in the rugged landscape of Mani, and operating as shelters or observation points. From afar, these stone-built towers appear as just one more element of the land, like monolithic outbursts from the soil, yet their very existence records the imprint of the turbulent life of the traditional Mani on this remarkable landscape.

Villa 13 is a private residence placed on a corner plot in one of the northern suburbs of Athens (Greece), Kifissia. Its volumes are the result of three consecutive foldings, which embrace the main spaces of the Villa and assist the composition both in turning smoothly around the corner and in climbing the gentle slope. Folding #1 encloses the living room and the double-height dining space, which meet at a sharp corner. Folding #2 encloses the master bedroom and offers a shelter for the outer space of the top floor office. Folding #3 encloses the bedrooms for the three young sons of the family.
