The house where the project was carried out is located on Avenida Eudóxia Canêdo, an early 20th-century workers' housing row in downtown Muriaé. The ensemble consists of a series of prototype houses arranged parallel to each other on both sides of a public internal street that connects the old Rua Direita to the Muriaé River. The architectural ensemble of the housing row is heritage-listed, and regarding the renovated house, preservation guidelines prevent any changes to its volume and facade.

I have always felt a certain disconnect between the narrative found in popular songs, sociological and anthropological texts, and the actual experience of Carnival in Brazil. It is a gap between the promise of a rich, pluralistic festivity and the reality of someone born in the 1980s, growing up amidst the rise of mass culture, widespread violence, and a dehumanizing urbanization that leads to the abandonment or commercialization of urban rituals.
