On the one hand, reinforced concrete displays the strength and durability required for large-scale construction, efficiently withstanding adverse weather conditions. On the other hand, the malleability of stamped concrete allows it to elegantly adapt to complex shapes and imprint patterns on the surface, utilizing texture and pattern to cultivate a distinct atmosphere within the built environment.

The overall architectural concept of the project was defined by the inherent conditions of the site. Upon arriving at the plot, a series of characteristics became evident, distinguishing it as a particularly singular location. The site is flat and rectangular, measuring approximately 30 meters in width and 170 meters in depth, with a predominant east–west orientation. It features dense vegetation along its northern and southern boundaries, while to the east—where access from the street is located—and to the west—open toward the condominium's polo field—there is complete visual transparency.

In the context of its 50th anniversary celebrations, Tabancura School invited us to participate in an architectural competition aimed at establishing a definitive master plan for the campus. The proposal sought to complete the infrastructure originally built in the late 1990s through the addition of three new buildings, as well as the design of new courtyards and gardens.

Smiljan Radić's architecture often begins elsewhere: in a memory, a journey, a material, a stone, a half-seen structure, or a situation not yet organized as an architectural idea. In "Architecture: Distraction and Knowledge," his 2026 Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate Lecture, distraction does not appear as a lack of focus, but as a way of receiving the world. It is through these peripheral encounters — travel, ruins, cities, stories, industries, and materials — that architectural knowledge slowly accumulates.
