In the distance, the hiker sees a black mass. Across the expanse, the sun no longer reigns, and the wooden cabin becomes the focal point. The light and the hiker attempt to penetrate the object, disrupting their respective rituals. The cabin seems to invite them in, yet it hinders their progress. The light struggles to enter the fossil of the old mine. It has slipped between the charred wooden blocks, reminiscent of the lignite ore once mined just a few hundred meters away.

Architectural description. Nestled on the plateau of Revard at 1400 meters above sea level, the center is situated in a clearing, occupied by cross-country ski trails in winter and pastures in summer. Simple and monolithic, the choice of a compact volume based on a square figure was imposed. Topped with a large three-pitched roof and a half-hipped roof on the side facing the ski slopes, the building is protected from the weather by wide roof overhangs, inspired by those of the Bauges barns, where wooden struts allow for greater cantilevers and low eaves minimize the impact of the structure on the scale of pedestrians or skiers.

The competition organized by the town of Bourg-Saint-Maurice called for the design of an architectural feature that would symbolize the entrance to the park and would try to bridge two distinct landscapes, encouraging walkers to pass from one through to the other. The proposed site is at the meeting point of two very disparate components: an urban sports ground and a park, both linked by a footbridge. The two environments, the constructed and the natural, are physically separated by the Versoyen River.
