The Site
The La Trabana campus of the Universidad del Azuay is located 18 miles (30 km) from the historic center of the city of Cuenca, in the rural parish of San Pedro de Quingeo, a Cultural Heritage Site of Ecuador. The 59-acre (24-hectare) site had been dedicated to agricultural production until mid-2017. At that point, the university decided to change its land use and establish a new campus that, while meeting its new infrastructure needs, would also offer a broad program of academic and recreational activities for faculty and staff.
