The mountain body chiefly contains natural rough stones, and the houses are all built with local stones.

Both exterior and interior renovations are needed for the ancestral houses, which were built at different times during the period from the 30’s to the 70’s of the last century, and the new buildings need interior design.

The building is named as "ChengRanJu", which comes from a famous paper by a Scholar Cui Xian in the Ming Dynasty and which literally means "worry-free happiness". This state of mind is like those ancient hermits who live in bamboo forests with tranquilities. To sum up, the name of the building implies seeking peace of mind by getting rid of all things flashy.

Situated to the northwest of Hangzhou’s main urban area with a distance of about 60 kilometers, Chuan Village of Shanchuan Town, Anji County has an altitude of around 220 meters. It is surrounded by mountains, which makes a basin form in the middle part. With a stream crossing through the village, the flowing water has been in no absence for years and there are over one thousand mu of fertile fields. Before the village lies a meandering narrow path, of which one side is a bamboo grove and the other is the stream. And the sights will be broadened after finishing the path.
