Situated in the Lutheran part of Házsongárd, a historical cemetery established in the 16th Century, close to the medieval city center of Cluj, the small building has been commissioned by the church to function as its own mortuary chapel and to host the offices for the Házsongárdi Association, a small NGO focusing on the preservation of the cemetery’s-built heritage.

The wedge on the edge: the Tektum offices in Cluj. In the old town of Cluj, built on a section of the medieval city wall, there stood a house marked for demolition. It was this house Tektum Architecture bought to build its own offices. Archaeologists of the city preservation committee demanded that the architect revealed and exhibited as much of the city wall as possible, as the basement level of the wall consisted of Roman stone blocks built in 2000 years ago.

During the planning and execution process, our goals were the following: creating a functional building that satisfies all expectations; the building's effect on people should positively serve the institution; by building this house the city will gain an urban, contemporary building; to sustain the investment with realistic, feasible cost-effective solutions. To achieve these goals we kept the existing building, rebuilt and extended it (thus hoping to keep Sütő András`s memory alive in the house). It was important for us to build in the neighbour partition walls.
