An Miên is a coffee brand built on pride in the authentic values of quality coffee, closely associated with the image of the roasting workshop—where aroma, heat, and the rhythm of industrial operations coexist. The space is conceived as an extension of this spirit, where the act of enjoying coffee is framed through materiality, light, and emotion.

We've always found renovation projects compelling—opportunities to reexamine existing structures within the urban fabric and breathe new life into them. This project involves a four-story townhouse, built with a concrete frame that is typical across many Vietnamese cities. Instead of demolishing and starting from zero, we chose to work with the existing structure, acknowledging its potential and giving it a chance to evolve with its own sense of character.

Tucked away within the dense fabric of the city, this modest and unassuming market offers a distinct counterpoint to the surrounding high-rise office buildings. Amid the city's rapid pace of development, its continued presence acts as a memory anchor—a place where familiar, everyday spaces persist, sustained by the enduring engagement of the local community.

In architecture, we are often accustomed to adding – a new structure emerging as a mark of human presence imprinted on nature. However, for this project, we chose a different approach: instead of adding, we deliberately subtracted artificial interventions.

From the very first survey, we were captivated by the graceful charm of this old apartment. Its modernist architecture exudes a unique allure, serving as the primary inspiration for this renovation project, which will become the main workspace for the design team. The previous owner had skillfully preserved the invaluable character of the space over time, and we see our role not as completely transforming it, but rather as evolving from what already exists, breathing new life into it.
