Hills Golf & Sports Club is located in the stunning recreation area Sandsjöbacka in Mölndal, a commuter municipality south of Gothenburg. The golf course was inaugurated in 2005 and named after its designer Arthur Hills. Like many golf courses around the world, Hills Golf and Spots Club decided to broaden its business model by building and selling housing next to the golf course and attaching club memberships to these dwellings. The residential development was initiated in 2016 and named Hills. The first building phase contains 56 single-family houses designed by Sweco Architects and five apartment buildings designed by Unit.

West of Gothenburg lies Sweden’s fourth biggest island – Hisingen. Travelling from the centre of Gothenburg towards the western side of Hisingen, you first pass Volvos industrial production units before reaching the coast and the ferry terminal which connects Hisingen to the northern archipelago. Just north of Hjulvik´s ferry terminal, a shift in the landscape occurs - from Hisingens plains (former seafloor) to Bohusläns coastal landscape with its ancient and sweeping outcrops of gneiss and granite. The last kilometre to the site winds and rises before finally you are rewarded with a great view back towards the ferry terminal. This area is called Hästevik. The clients for the Plastic house II are the same as for our first built house ten years before – Plastic house I. They have now bought this real estate, some kilometres from the old house, and wanted to complement the existing summer house with a new single-story house.

Billdal, 20 km south of Gothenburg, is a community with a large amount of detached housing, situated within commuter distance to central Gothenburg. The area’s main attraction is truly the sea. Here, the horizon is visible from shore, while further north the vastness of the Northern Sea is obstructed by islands in the southern archipelago. Just next to the shoreline, but tucked away behind a hill that partly eliminates sea view, is the property of this object. The site was not without challenges with its difficult ground conditions, and surrounding large neighboring villas. To offer impeccable living conditions on the site, the house had to adapt to the prevailing conditions.

Around the lake Gärdsken, in the southern parts of Alingsås, a residential area with villas mainly from the 20th century is situated. Originally, these were small wooden two storey houses with a basement in stone and vernacular detailing. Nowadays however, almost every single house is rebuilt and enlarged beyond recognition. The owners of one of the few houses left intact wanted more space as well as renovating the existing house. The first sketches were made in 2005 although the construction did not start until late in 2008 because of the overheated construction market.

In Hjuvik just outside Göteborg Anna och Marcus Bohlin bought a property containing an old detached house. The area is a pure residential area which has been thoroughly developed over the past 20 years with a great density of houses as a result. It has also led to the paradox that although all inhabitants have moved there for a view of the sea, no sea is visible from their own property as the nearby neighbor’s house is obstructing the view. This, combined with current Swedish building regulation which states that a kitchen, living room, bathroom and a bedroom must be accessible for a disabled person, leads to the tragic fact that despite the proximity to the sea, most people do not see it from the spaces where they spend most of their waking time - the kitchen and living room.
