Syncopated, Revolving Door Condo / Tomokazu Hayakawa Architects

This is the renovation project of the 70's condominium in Meguro-ku, Tokyo. We imaged the flexible equipment of glass case with the Revolving Door adapting all four seasons environment in an old condo. In the beginning, the Revolving door was something that corresponds to the needs of a lot of visitors of the client. We've thought to separate the living space for the visitor to rest to the other with sliding wall or movable partition. Also, the client wanted to drink a glass of wine while watching the bike and the other important collection. Before long, they will be the Revolving door + glass screen integrated with wall storage behind, it reminded as an important environmental equipment.

This is a small house in a residential area in Bunkyo-ku Tokyo. We set large windows on the open south side and set a green screen as the south facade by making planter boxes on each floor. The ceiling at the window is mirror finished, it functions as a device that green captures inside the room. The eaves were deeply attached to each floor, the void was divided by the planters. Keeping an appropriate distance with neighbours, we just imagined a meditation space that can live together with GREEN plants in small streets. We thought here is not 'modest living' of 'small dwell' but a 'BIG LIFE' of 'SMALL DWELL'.

This site is located at Torigoe which is between Asakusa and Akihabara. Here is the old downtown area; there are many small factories for like leather product, paper craft and ornament. Client wants his small office and his wife is going to operate small gallery in this area.
