The design of the new Faculty of Sciences at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana faced unique challenges, such as achieving a harmonious balance with the historic Pablo VI building, activating the urban edge of Carrera Séptima, and coherently articulating the campus. The comprehensive project was structured around three fundamental components: A) A linear platform that establishes a human-scale front along Carrera Séptima, B) A tall tower with a broad and fluid base, defining a new iconic entrance to the campus, and C) An extensive landscape intervention and collective spaces that serve as a connector between different areas of the campus.

It is part of the master plan for the Bicentennial Campus, situated east of the urban core. The master plan establishes a central circulation axis that articulates a series of inclined volumes arranged perpendicularly to the terrain, adapting to the site's topography.

This project emerged from the 2008–2028 Infrastructure Master Plan to serve the Continuing Education and Graduate Studies division. Consequently, its creation responds to the need for a secondary location in the north of the city for extension students, situated in an area of Bogota experiencing significant corporate and residential growth. The property where the project is located faces a major, wide-section primary artery (100 meters) with a heavy, constant flow of vehicles. Therefore, the building was designed to address two main premises: to capitalize on a volume that is perceived differently depending on the direction and speed of approach, and to humanize the challenging urban condition by implementing an entrance balcony-garden on the second floor, turning entry into the building into an enjoyable experience.

The efficiency of the diagrid interpreted as a mesh is closely linked to its application at the perimeter of the building, in such a way that becomes the façade and visible image of the architecture. A singular and unique image was achieved, as it distances itself from the traditional solution of porticoes.

With approximately 16000m² of buildings and 21000m² of exteriors and landscape design, the Rochester School’s Master Plan aimed for a strategy which reflected its own concept of academic community. Thus, as a premise, the HUBS (grouping system) appeared, looking for an educational model that integrate teachers and students disregarding grades and therefore fading out the traditional hierarchy of school formation.

More than a building project is a construction operation of urbanism; and although it initially started as the development of an integrated care building for the University, it soon became a project of public space, urban design and integration with the La Candelaria neighboorhood. This was made possible by a joint operation of "public" space and three buildings (Integrated Care Center - CAI, entryway to the eastern sector and coffee area), where the main objective was to seep the public space in between buildings, weaving a new project.
