Designed by architects Thiago Benedetti Brugnolo and Mariana Rotta, partners at Taguá Arquitetura, the AL house was created with the aim of combining privacy, functionality and comfort on a 450 m² plot of land. With the social areas strategically placed in the center of the lot, the project was designed to encourage residents to spend time with their families, integrate indoor and outdoor spaces and make the most of natural light. “From the beginning, our intention was to ensure fluid circulation, while at the same time preserving moments of intimacy, with solutions that value both socializing and seclusion,” explain the architects.

On a corner plot, the objective for this residence was to enhance the house by taking advantage of the land, proposing a project with two prominent facades. Instead of walls and closures, the house opens onto both facades facing the corner, with a harmonious composition of full and empty spaces, a mixture of textures and elements such as cobogós and exposed bricks.

“A compact house that makes the best use of the plot”, this was the request of the client in the first conversation about the project of this house. The plot with an area of 400.62 m² had a curved front, which guided some aspects of the project. With this plot, the architects created two distinct rectangular blocks, occupying both ends of the lateral setbacks. A smaller block, positioned on the south face, where the permitted built-up area was reduced due to legislation, where the services sector is located and another one facing the north face, with larger proportions, housing the intimate wing, this decision ended up creating a central void between these two opposite blocks and in this emptiness, the garage was positioned in front of the plot, the social area in the center and the gourmet in the back, facing the west with a beautiful view of the green area.

Torto House is a contemporary project, whose work is prefabricated and sustainable. We wanted to show a brutalist architecture, with natural and apparent materials, without giving up sophistication and comfort. Basically we have the materials: steel, glass, wood, concrete on the floor, exposed ecological brick, drywall and joinery. A clean work in terms of work and materials, without the use of superfluous coverings or props.
