Kakamigahara City is located where the Nagara River, one of Japan's three major clear streams, flows north, and the Kiso River, which is selected as one of the 100 most famous waters, flows south. This project is about rebuilding a housing complex in Mihama, a town situated on the seaside on the southern tip of a peninsula in Aichi prefecture. Housing complexes construction began in the 1950s facing many problems such as aging, a decrease in the number of households, structural decline, etc. The existing complex housing is no exception, therefore it was decided to tear down some of the unusable two-storey-PC-buildings. On this rebuilding, we decided to create place which is friendly environment for family with children and old people as well instead of reducing number of house.

House surrounded by the Hedges」 by Studio Velocity is a Housing for married couples and children located in Aichi, Japan. The surrounding area is different from the well-maintained city-scape, and there is a narrow and diagonal road that remains from the old days, and you can see irregular sites. The site was irregular due to the proximity of narrow roads running diagonally. There are many houses around the site with fences and hedges. The issue was how to relate this to the spatial composition.
