Located in one of the few exclusively residential neighborhoods in Porto Alegre, Casa Flor, designed by the Stemmer Rodrigues office, was built on a steeply sloping plot, facing a square of great emotional value for the clients, a young couple of university professors with two children, who were longtime residents of the area. The family participated in the reforestation of the square, so one of their main desires when buying the plot was for the house to make the best possible use of the view, while ensuring privacy from the street.

Gardens, nothing defines this project better than its name. A residence in which landscape and architecture have come together to set the tone for a desired living space by a woman passionate about vegetation. Designed by Stemmer Rodrigues and located in Xangri-lá, RS, the external and internal gardens smoothly connect the various sectors that make up the house.

A completely ground-level, cozy house that would bring a sense of well-being and calmness to enjoy weekends: these were the owner's requests for the design of a 201m² house, located in Xangri-lá, a city near Porto Alegre, for the architecture firm Stemmer Rodrigues. In addition, the team had the challenge of executing the project in just six months and intervening as little as possible on the terrain while maintaining one hundred percent of the large trees already existing on the site.

Ananda is the name set by Stemmer Rodrigues for its new house project in Eldorado do Sul (Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil). Ananda means supreme bliss, a common term widely used in Hinduism. The choice directly refers to the owner’s wish of transforming her house into a bright space to live in and to receive students for yoga and meditation classes.

The fig tree represents the starting point for this project, putting it in evidence and respecting its pre-existence on the ground. The roots of the tree were preserved in their entirety, shifting the foundations of the building to the side in a minimal impact area.

One of the goals in this project was that the residence established a true connection with nature. There was great emphasis on landscaping, large openings that gave the impression that the gardens surrounding the building invade the interior. The unusual slope of the living room window, overlooking canal water on the edge of the house, the glazed openings of the entrance hall and the cutout on the apparent concrete slab of the entrance, invite the contemplation of nature, which grows and breathes.

On a raised lot overlooking a lake, the feeling of privacy and seclusion was the starting point of this 487m2 project. The wish list was specific: the resident sought references to send her back to her homeland in Napa Valley, California. Among items, a bedroom that invite to stay in bed late, cars kept in the background and an inner walkway surrounded by forest.
