Turning idle municipal land into ecological green lung. Jingyue Central Park, known as the "ecological green lung" of Jingyue High-tech Zone in Changchun City, covers a total area of 490,000㎡, including 59,000㎡building areas. The project is encircled by large residential quarters with a population of about 300,000, as well as business buildings, office buildings, and primary and secondary schools. It also sits close to nine universities, including Northeast Normal University, Jilin Jianzhu University and Jilin Agricultural University. Due to construction of the viaduct, river, and residential, commercial and office buildings in the neighboring areas, the project site was beset by piles of abandoned earth and construction waste, which blocked the connection between the north and south of the site, and turned it into an idle municipal land. In response to the needs of urban development, the project was launched. The park penetrates north and south and extends east and west, becoming a core node of the urban green space system connecting citizens, the city and nature. Through the design and implementation of a series of green valley, water body, activity space and space under the viaduct, the site transforms from an idle municipal land to an urban green lung.

1. Where the idea starts. The project is located at Shapotou, Zhongwei, Ningxia, a national nature reserve as well as a national AAAAA-rated scenic area on the southeast brink of Tengger Desert. This is the place to discover the desert, the Yellow River, high mountains and oases, the scenery full of the grand northwestern miracles and the delicate southern elegance. Here you can traverse Tengger Desert on camels or surf the sand dunes in an all-terrain, and immerse in the poetic sight of "a lonely column of smoke rising upright in the vast desert, and the sun setting round towards where the long river flows".

Origin and Site Selection
Shanghai Fudan Jingshi Bookstore was established in 1993 and is affiliated to Fudan University Press. It is the only state-owned comprehensive bookstore with a large scale in the area of Fudan. Due to the adjustment of the university's overall planning, Jingshi Bookstore moved from the old site (No. 579 Guoquan Road) last year and chose to “settle down”again at No. 286 Guonian Road. To the north of the new site is the Liberal Arts Library of Fudan University; to the west are the Fifth and Sixth Teaching Buildings and the Liberal Arts Building; and to the east is the School of Management, which together constitute a reading base full of academic and humanistic atmosphere. The Guonian Road where the bookstore is located is a quiet small road with the unique atmosphere of the campus, on both sides of the road are luxuriant platanus trees. Our starting point for design is to give a full play to the characteristics of the site.

At the initial stage, it was only a deserted beach by the sea. Since the establishment of the zone in the early 1990s, the development zone has undergone several rounds of industrial renewal and has become one of the leading areas of economic development in Shandong Province. The deserted beach has also become a mature community with urban parks and public beaches. The project itself has gone from the training building to the guest house, and has once again been upgraded to the headquarters of the scientific research office. Its overall appearance has shown new vitality as the urban industry.

The exhibition center will take into account the functions of planning display, commercial marketing, art exhibition, cultural activities, etc., and inject new vitality into the urban area.
