This recently completed family home and the studio is situated within the Miltons, part of the Highgate Conservation area in the London Borough of Haringey. The 200m2 site, accessible via a narrow passageway, was previously an old garage and rear garden of an adjoining house.

The initial brief for a largely unrefurbished Victorian house on the South Side of London’s Westbourne Grove, centred around establishing a new family home for two adults and their young children. During the course of the project the family expanded from two children to four. Behind the original façade, the buildings circulation, rear form and fenestration limited the development of a new section able to generate enough space for a growing family.

A 68 square metre compact 2 bedroom mews house and enclosed courtyard of 11 square metres in Highgate. This 2 storey brick house faces onto a quiet cobbled mews. Its 90 square metre site, on land to the rear of a 5 story locally listed building, was formerly occupied by a disused garage and derelict garden. It sits amongst a patchwork of rear fenced off gardens, garages, mews houses and ad-hoc rear ad-ons and a recently completed house, also by Russell Jones.
