This project was developed under the constraints given by the client and the extreme temperatures and climate in the city of Piura. In response to the client’s needs, a compact house was appropriate but in order to ensure the house remained cool in extreme heat, we decided to turn the volume to be parallel to the longest side of the lot.

The design objective of the project was to elongate the volume of the residence so as to take full advantage of the extensive plot. To achieve this, the traditional typology of a house-courtyard was reinterpreted thereby creating a succession of open spaces contained by the final building.

The house is located in northern Peru, near the equator, in the city of Piura. Intense heat is an important factor when designing for this area. This particular external characteristic impacts how the home’s inhabitants use conventional spaces.
